Many people experience that they’re posts are “published too late”. That doesn’t mean that after you’ve posted a post that it’s being stored away somewhere in cyberspace and published later; the big problem here is newsfeed traffic.
There is so much content flooding into social media platforms on a daily basis that it’s literally creating some content congestion; a big traffic jam. This causes a delay in other’s newsfeeds which means that people will actually start seeing your post between 48 -72 hours later unless they physically go to view your page.
So what does that mean to us in terms of content creation?
Well, way back in the day content creation was much simpler because the calendar already did half the work for you. Every public holiday or “special” day featured in your Editorial Calendar. This approach won’t work anymore because by the time people see your Christmas post in their newsfeeds it will already be New Years. That does not mean that you should NEVER do “special” day posts like Christmas, but it does mean that your focus should be on much more evergreen content (content that doesn’t go out of season or, in this case, out of day).
That way it doesn’t matter when people see it. And in terms of evergreen content still utilising “special” or public holidays; simply create a month long editorial calendar campaign or theme around the day(s). That will ensure that people get to see your post whilst it’s still relevant and fun.
